Little Sprouts
Ms. Tara’s class is an inspired mix of Charlotte Mason meets Waldorf approach to learning. We will focus on the delights of the natural world around us with lessons that are seasonally inspired. We will incorporate art, poetry, stories, nature journaling and crafts into our daily rhythms. Academics will be woven in with imaginative and sensory play to bring learning to life and to create a fun and nurturing environment for our children.

Discover Nature Connections with Science in the Garden
Upper elementary kids will be going deeper in nature’s systems with soil science, garden ecosystems, growing food and food systems. Kids will also practice more creative garden-to-table culinary skills and cooking on our camp style outdoor cooking setup. Elements of life science including inherited traits, life cycles, classification and more will be covered. Class takes place entirely outdoors in the community garden.

Nature Sense-ations
Let’s explore the world and connect to nature through our senses. We will study the anatomy of our senses, compare to other species, and discover our place on this earth through nature connection.

Creative Writing: Comic Book Workshop + Kid’s Fitness Class
Unleash your imagination! In this fun and interactive class, students will learn how to create memorable characters, build exciting story worlds, and craft their own original tales. We’ll explore the art of storytelling – from planning story arcs to writing dialogue – and bring ideas to life through comic book creation. Whether you love superheroes, fantasy adventures, or slice-of-life stories, this class will help you develop your voice and share your stories in creative and colorful ways. *1/15 – 3/26*
This class helps kids grow strong, confident, and centered through play! We blend movement, mindfulness, and simple breathwork to boost focus, coordination, and emotional balance. Each session is packed with games, teamwork, and laughter — helping kids feel good in their bodies and peaceful in their minds. It’s fitness that feels like fun! *4/9 – 5/21*

Drama + Improv
Step into the thrilling world of theatre! Whether you’re brand new to drama or have been the star on stage, this class is fun for all skill levels. We’ll practice acting techniques, rehearse scenes, play improv games, and grow in confidence, all while having lots of laughs and a total blast with our classmates.

The Story of Chemistry
In 1869, Siberian scientist, Demitri Mendeleev, assembled and organized all detectable matter in the universe into the Periodic Table of the Elements. How did he do this? What did he know? These are the questions that drive the laboratory explorations in this series. Students follow the 200 hundred year journey of discovery, beginning in the 1600’s when scientists launched a systemic, methodical investigation into the age-old question ‘what is fire?’.

This engaging 7-week class helps students build healthy screen habits, protect their minds from digital overuse, and develop confidence in navigating the online world. Using Brain Defense video lessons coupled with interactive discussions and activities, students will learn to manage screen time, handle cyberbullying, turn away from inappropriate content, and practice wise digital citizenship. Weekly parent letters and resource lists will provide tools for continued conversations and support at home. Together, families will gain tools to foster balance, safety, and connection in today’s tech-driven world. *4/9 – 5/21*

Woodworking*
Advanced: 4th – 5th + completed beginner
Through a sequence of projects, the young carpenters gain the skill and competence to complete increasingly more complicated projects. From boats to bird feeders, doll furniture, clocks, games, airplanes, and many more, the kids have a wide range of projects to choose from besides designing and building according to their own needs and imagination for the veteran carpenter. In addition to the fun kids have, they also gain quality experiences in measuring, applied math (including fractions), problem-solving, craftsmanship, and as a result are empowered by the hands-on experience.

Functional Nutrition
Discover how food fuels your body – and how to make it delicious! In this hands-on class, we will explore functional nutrition while getting back to the roots of good food. We ́ll learn where food comes from, how to make informed choices, and how to care for our bodies at the cellular level. We ́ll discover why spinach is better eaten blanched, what the most nutrient dense foods are and why that matters, why soaking grains is beneficial, and what the saying ́You are what you eat ́ actually means. We ́ll experiment with fermentation, ancient grains, cultured dairy, seasonal eating, and cooking with locally sourced ingredients.

The Art of Reading: Wisdom, Wonder and the Quest for Meaning
Step into a world of knights, quests and great ideas! In this course, students will journey through The Once and Future King by T.H. White—an unforgettable retelling of the Arthurian legends—and learn the art of reading deeply and thoughtfully through Mortimer Adler’s classic How to Read a Book. We’ll incorporate selections from The Columbian Orator, as well as Plutarch’s The Life of Julius Caesar and Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.
Together, these works will guide students not only in understanding great stories, but also in how to approach any book with curiosity,discernment and joy. Students will practice identifying themes, asking deep questions and engaging in lively discussion as they explore timeless ideas of courage, friendship, justice and wisdom.

More to Math than Arithmetic
This class gives a shot in the arm and inspires the reluctant student through a variety of easy group solution and critical thinking activities, and games. Lots of math oriented games that they end up really enjoying. They are sent home with very little homework, but often get hooked and have their math attitude change. Students can be at a variety of math ability levels and challenged or encouraged at different levels because of the variety of activities they can choose in class and they can always ask for a “harder one.”
We review some basic concepts and try to make sure they have a good understanding of basic math concepts, but then open their eyes to more.

The Math Lab
In this continuation of Math Lab, students will take their math skills a step further through hands-on lessons and creative projects. We’ll build on what they’ve already learned while diving deeper into big ideas like geometry, fractions, measurement, data, and multiplication. Along the way, students will strengthen their problem-solving and critical thinking skills as they explore how math connects to the world around them.

Visual Art
4th – 5th grade
Inspire creativity and curiosity through hands-on exploration of various art forms, including drawing, painting, clay, printmaking, and collage. This introductory class builds a foundation in the fundamentals of visual art, helping students develop their ideas into finished pieces and discover joy of creative expression. Students will learn about light, shape, texture, color theory, value, composition, and perspective while also exploring art history, learning about famous artists, and artistic movements that continue to inspire creativity today.

Mural Class
Learn how to bring big ideas to life through the art of mural making. In this project-based class, students will explore the entire process from concept and design to project management and painting. We’ll explore mural techniques, art history, and draw inspiration from influential contemporary muralists. This class encourages students to take the lead and work together on a real mural that will be painted on campus that will leave an impactful and lasting impression. *$50 lab fee
